Manifesting one's dreams has become important for many people and Crafting a Magical Life is the perfect easy-to-follow guide. Full of lively photos, diagrams and tips.

Carol Holaday has created something delightful with her book Crafting a Magical Life. Whether any of these 20 practical creative projects are attempted with serious magical intent to manifest a heart's desire, or simply for the joy of creating, they are certain to bring pleasure.

Manifesting and Magic

Apart from the magical aspect of manifesting, there is a theory that once the mind is focused on a specific desire or intention it will begin scanning the environment to seek out that which will support it to bring the desire to fruition.

Carol Holaday uses this theory, but with different language. For example, when creating a Promise Plant she says, “The more attention you give it, the more you expand the energy of your creation.” The idea is that as the plant is watered and grows, so the wishes of the reader are nurtured and grow.

The writer does acknowledge the power of the mind in the first chapter of Crafting a Magical Life with half a dozen fascinating pages on modern scientific research. Some may find the concluding statements offer up a rather bland positive thinking approach, but nevertheless, most will likely find this section well worth reading.

Crystal Projects and Dream Pillows

Crafting a Magical Life is rich in creative crystal projects and gemstone amulets but it also shows how to make a scented dream pillow "such as grandmamma used to make," a goddess doll filled with herbs, crystals and wish lists, and a secret journal which would make a thoughtful gift for a special friend.

For mothers looking for ways to spend time with their daughters, this is a book full of ideas that are a lot more interesting that potato printing or painting toenails. Prayer beads, magic candles and promise plants are illustrated with photographs and clear instructions accompany each project.

Properties of Crystals and Herbs

The final chapter in the book offers a wealth of information on everything from the runic alphabet to the properties of crystals and herbs. The herbal properties have nothing to do with infusions, or physical healing, but are the magical properties.

For example, it is well-known that making a tea using fresh mint will help settle indigestion, however, the listing for mint in the book only mentions prosperity, money and psychic attunement. Many readers may find this somewhat disappointing, given the wide general interest in herbs.

Carol Holaday and Edgar Cayce

Although the projects are not all original, Carol Holaday has given each one a little twist of something different, whilst offering suggestions for further imaginative ideas.

Carol Holaday’s gifts for writing, art, and healing may have been passed down through a relative, the famous Christian healer and prophet, Edgar Cayce.

She has turned her gifts into her life’s work, as she and her husband own a shop in San Diego called Wisdom Crystals. She also leads regular classes on metaphysical matters.
